Former Chief secretary Lalit Kumar Gupta also known as a man of impeccable integrity and honesty has taken voluntary retirement and will be leaving after years of his professional career in Tripura.
A 1987 batch IAS officer, Lalit Kumar from Rajasthan spent almost half of his years serving the state; he was deputed to Delhi for a short period of time.
Gupta began his career as SDM, Amarpur and rose to become chief secretary last year.
Soon after the last Lok Sabha elections L.K.Gupta was unceremoniously removed from the post of chief secretary and posted as Director General (DG) of State Institute of Public Administration and Rural Development (SIPARD) apparently without any rhyme or reason.
Feeling hurt over this demotion L.K.Gupta applied for voluntary retirement which was accepted recently and his voluntary retirement will be effective from October 1, 2019.
Earlier, another secretary-rank IAS officer Y. Kumar had gone on voluntary retirement during the last days of the previous left front.
Highly placed sources in the administration said that a number of other senior officers are keen to go on voluntary retirement while many senior officers of Tripura cadre, currently posted in Delhi, are determined not to return to the state.
