Tripura's chief minister, Biplab Kumar Deb, said Thursday that the' Rafale agreement' was a' conspiracy' that broke out against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and demanded an apology from Congress Party including Rahul Gandhi for blaming the defense contract for corruption.
Deb, also the chairman of the ruling party Bharatiya Janata in Tripura, said that “a conspiracy was devised against Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Rafale deal to malign the central government”.
He strongly demanded that the entire leadership of Congress should apologize to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the bogus accusation of corruption in the defense deal, including party leader Rahul Gandhi.
“As the people of the country does not trust the Congress that’s why they are making concocted allegations against Prime Minister and the BJP. The Supreme Court verdict on the Rafale deal once again cleared that the entire process to acquire the Rafale fighter jet was completely transparent,” the Chief Minister asserted.
A review petition requesting a sample in the Rafale deal to procure 36 fighter planes from French company Dassault was dismissed by the apex court on Thursday.
A three-member bench, headed by Ranjan Gogoi, Chief Justice, comprising S.K. Kaul and K.M. Joseph said the court did not consider it necessary to order a "roving" investigation or an FIR into the deal to prove the deal announced during Modi's visit to France in April 2015.
