NorthEast United FC (NEUFC) went own 2-0 to Chennaiyin FC at the Indian Super League (ISL) encounter.
The match took place at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai on Thursday.
After an action-packed but goalless first half, the wonder goal of Rafael Crivellaro in the 57th minute gave Chennaiyin the lead, while the eighth goal of the season for Nerijus Valskis sealed the deal for the home side, reports say.
The victory saw Chennaiyin climb to sixth place in the table and remain in the search for a top-four slot.
Meanwhile, NorthEast United sits in the ninth position and has won none in seven games.
NorthEast United’s new signing Andy Keogh could have given them a dream start in the very first minute when Martin Chaves played him through on goal.
But the Irish striker’s effort was deflected for a corner by an onrushing Vishal Kaith.
