Next month, Guwahati will host Prime Minister Narendra Modi's annual summit with his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe.
It is expected that the two-day summit will take place in mid-December.
It is reported that the state government is proposing to revamp the bungalow of the old deputy commissioner on Sukreshwar Hill as a place where the two leaders would have talks.
The two prime ministers are also planning a river cruise on the Brahmaputra.
In the meantime, an NSG team from Delhi is also conducting a mock drill in Guwahati.
With a trip to the new peace museum in Manipur's capital Imphal, Modi and Abe are scheduled to conclude the summit.
It is reported that Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale will arrive in Guwahati and Imphal and take stock of the scenario ahead of the crucial summit.
In view of the Center's focus on the Northeast under the Act East Forum launched by India and Japan almost two years ago, Guwahati was selected as the venue for the summit.
