The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) has started off the local body polls in Arunachal Pradesh on a positive note. The panchayat and municipal elections within the north-eastern state are set to be persisted 22 December.
However, the BJP has already emerged victorious unopposed in 5,410 of the 8,291 Gram Panchayat member posts, 96 of the 240 Zila Parishad member posts and 5 out of the 20 corporator seats within the Itanagar Municipal Corporation.

Reflecting on the encouraging results, the state’s Chief Minister Pema Khandu tweeted, “An impressive start for BJP within the state’s panchayat and municipal polls. Congratulations to all or any the candidates from BJP who have won unopposed. Also because of people of Arunachal for his or her unwavering trust in BJP and PM Narendra Modi’s leadership.”

BJP’s victory in Arunachal Pradesh follows its resounding win within the Panchayat Samiti and Zila Parishad elections in Rajasthan.
