Assam news : Bodoland to Become an Union Territory according to reports

In the midst of where Assam is caught in a whirlpool of political turmoil, there are reports of creation of Bodoland Union Territory that has been circulating in the social media.

Apparently, the preparations are already on for the creation of the Bodoland Union Territory and a series of steps have already been undertaken.

As per these reports, Kokrajhar is going to be divided into two districts- Kokrajhar and Gosaigaon. Meanwhile, Baksa will be divided into two parts- Baksa and Manas.

Bhergaon will be carved out from Udalguri and two new districts will be carved out from Sonitpur, Biswanath, and Lakhimpur and they will be named as Mainoshree and Holongi.

It has also been reported that the proposed Bodoland Union Territory will have an inner line permit (ILP) system and it will be a member of the North East Council (NEC).

People will have land rights according to Article 371 (G) of the Constitution.

It has also been reported that the new UT will get funds directly from the Centre.
