Labourer pioneer Akhil Gogoi is relied upon to challenge 2021 assembly elections in Assam from prison as the Gauhati High Court on Thursday dismissed his bail supplication.
The Appeal in Supreme Court:
Gogoi will move the Supreme Court. He was captured for subversion charges in 2019 during the counter Citizenship Amendment Act fight in Assam.
In August last NIA court dismissed the bail request of the Gogoi following which he moved the High Court.
Another Party Formed:
Gogoi-drove Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) hosted shaped another political party — the 'Raijor Dal', or People's Party to challenge the following year's surveys.
Gogoi, a previous member from Team Anna Hazare, was captured under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act on December 12 in Jorhat during an enemy of CAA fight and was later given over to the National Investigation Agency.
The High Court conceded Gogoi bail in three different cases, identified with the consuming of a circle office, post office, and a bank office in Dibrugarh locale in December 2019.
Support from Allies:
His allies stated, "While we will move the Supreme court looking for his release. Moving to the apex court will require significant time anyway he will challenge Assam surveys scheduled for April from Jail."
