Ziro Music Festival 2019 (26 to 29 September)

Ziro:

Ziro is a picturesque valley located about 167 Km from Itanagar, in the North-eastern Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. Situated at a height of over 1,500 m above sea level, this land of Apatani people is an uneven valley dotted with a number of hillocks beneath lush, paddy fields. Ziro Valley has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site nominee for several years as the cradle for its unique Apatni cultural landscape. The administrative center and hub for economic activities in the valley is a town called Hapoli, locally known by the Apatanis as "Hao-Polyang". In recent times, Ziro has also become famous for the Ziro Festival of Music, which is held annually in the valley and features some of the best indie acts from around the world as well as leading folk musicians from Northeast India. The only drawback is all visitors need permissions - the Inner Line Permit (ILP) for Indians and Protected Area Permit for foreigners.

The festival:

Founded by Bobby Hano and Menwhopause guitarist Anup Kutty in 2012, Ziro Music Festival in Arunachal Pradesh has many great Indie artists under its name like Steve Shelley, Lou Majaw, Shaa’ir n Func, Indus Creed, Lee Ranaldo, Menwhopause, Guru Rewben Mashangva, and Peter Cat Recording Co among others. The list is continuously growing and this time, it’s much larger than before!

Although Arunachal Pradesh is one of the remotest North-Eastern states, the festival has visitors from all over the world. Ziro, at a height of over 5500 feet above sea level, is a picturesque valley located about 167 Km from Itanagar. The festival is for 4 days and features top-class indie acts from all over the world and some of the best folk musicians from all the North-Eastern states. All visitors need permissions - the Inner Line Permit (ILP) for Indians and Protected Area Permit for foreigners.
