breaking news

On Sunday, Cyclone Bulbul had an adverse effect on most northeastern states. Heavy rainfall was received by states like Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura.

While on Sunday, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura received light to medium rainfall, only Agartala recorded 24 mm rainfall on Sunday at 8:30 am. Kailashahar reported 9 mm of light rain in Tripura, followed by Lengpui in Mizoram, also receiving 9 mm of rainfall, and Silchar recorded 6 mm of rainfall in southern Assam.

Rainfall triggered landslides on the national highway near Kumarghat in Tripura's Unokoti district, disrupting vehicle movement in the night. Thousands of trucks and some passenger vehicles remained stranded until the evening.

“It is very likely to continue to move east-northeastwards and weaken into a depression over coastal Bangladesh during the next 9 hours,” the weather bulletin said.

The Met office predicted that light to moderate rain, accompanied by thundershowers, was likely at a few places over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Arunachal Pradesh on Monday. “Moderate to dense fog is likely at isolated pockets over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura in the morning hours on Tuesday,” the bulletin said.
