By offering prayers on Tuesday, November 5, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated the Brahmaputra Pushkaram Festival.
Brahmaputra Pushkaram,' from November 5 to November 16, 2019, is a 12-day mega river festival. The mela takes place on Brahmaputra's ghats from Bharalumukh to the area of Fancy Bazar.
The mela is expected to be attended by 50,000 sadhus and monks from outside the city, and the government expects 2-3 lakh people to take part in the festivities.
After Namami Brahmaputra, this will be the second-largest river festival ever to be celebrated in Assam State.
It is worth noting that embankments were built at the ghats so that the River Bharalu's polluted water would not hamper the festival.
