NEUFC got a new Head: Khalid Jamil to Guide the new Talents of the Highlands


The splendid coach who scouted Aizwal FC to win the prestigious I-league is going to be the assistant coach for NEUFC.

Khalid Jamil signed a three-year deal with the North East United Football Club as an assistant coach. He will also be the head of NEUFC’s football academy. Before taking up the job with NEUFC, he was the head coach of Mohun Bagan.

Khalid was born in Kuwait to Indian parents. He made seven appearances for the Indian national football team making his debut in 2001.

Khalid played for three clubs in India in a 12-year playing career. He started taking coaching assignments only after 2009. He holds AFP Pro Coaching License.

In 2017 Khalid the Aizwal FC as the head coach and guided the club towards victory in the I-league.

After the victory of Aizwal FC, he joined East Bengal FC as the head coach. East Bengal signed him with an all-time high deal of 1.25 crore.

In January 2019 he joined Mohun Bagan FC as the head coach. It was only because of John Abraham’s request; Khalid decided to join NEUFC on June 19.

“It is a pleasure for me to be associated with North East United and contribute towards the grooming and scouting of young players,” he said.

He also added, “Our goal is to turn this system into one of the best in the country with the ability to cater to over 200 youth prospects at a time.”

“In my capacity as assistant coach to the first team, I look forward to working in the ISL for the first time and am confident that we can top last year’s excellent season,” he said.

The top heads of NEUFC are sure that with his apt and immense knowledge of the Indian football landscape, Khalid will be a reliable guide for the team.
