Under the All Assam Students ' Union (AASU) Bokakhat subdivisional unit banner, along with 30 other ethnic organizations, people from the Bokakhat area protested strongly against the 2019 Citizenship (Amendment) Act here in Bokakhat City on Thursday.
With traditional drums, taals, dhools, nagaras and sangkhas, a large number of protesters staged' Ranasinga ' protest in their traditional attires. During the protest hours, the sound of pounding drums and other traditional instruments shook the city of Bokakhat. The protesters demanded that the Act be immediately terminated.
Locals from nearby areas also raised anti-CAAand anti-government slogans to gather and support the protest. Speakers in the protest program spoke and urged all sections of society to unite in a peaceful and democratic manner and continue to protest against the CAA. Each one in the protest condemned the arrogance of the Sonowal government over the issue of the CAA. The protesters also stated that for all the arrogance and fascism acts in the forthcoming legislative elections they would respond to the BJP government.
