On Friday, the Additional Police Director General (Law & Order) G P Singh urged Assam's people to be careful when writing and forwarding posts on different social media platforms.
Singh's message came after a 10-day delay to restore mobile internet connectivity in Assam at 9 a.m. on Friday.
In a tweet, Singh stated,
‘Friends, the mobile internet services are being restored to enable people to go about life in a normal manner.’
“Please be wise in writing, forwarding posts on various social media platforms. Let’s build a stronger Assam together. Looking forward to continued support,” he added.
The restoration of mobile internet services came six hours after the Gauhati High Court ordered the internet service providers to resume services on Thursday.
After the massive protests and law and order situation over the Citizenship (Amendment) Act last December 11, the internet in the state was snapped.
Last Wednesday, the Assam-Meghalaya cadre's 1991 batch IPS officer was sent to Assam by the Center.
He was sent to Assam to address the situation of law and order in the state that went out of hand as a result of the violent protests against the 2019 Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA).
Singh had led a number of operations against insurgent outfits including the United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA).
