First-Ever Woman Drama Fest in Northeast – Manipur to Welcome Talents from All Over the Region


From December 2 to 11, the first-ever northeast female drama festival will take place in Imphal.

The ten-day festival is being organized as part of empowering women through their work by local theater group Khengjonglang in collaboration with Sangeet Natak Akademi.

The festival will take place in the picturesque complex of Khengjonglang near Irilbung in Imphal, said the chairman of the organizing committee K Radhakumar.

During the festival, Radhakumar said a total of 10 Northeast women's theater groups will present 10 different plays.

From December 3 to 6, he said, a national theater seminar will also be held as part of the festival.

In addition, during the festival there will also be two award-winning folk dramas (Shumang Leela), Radhakumar said.

The national seminar will be attended by many well-known eminent female theater personalities including Anuradha Kapoor, Kirti Jain, Nilam Mansingh, Kago Mado, Bharat Gupta, and Pabitra.
