Five people were arrested on Friday for sheltering two suspected rape accused — Jewang Wangsa and Nowli Wangsu — who were absconding since February 4.
The pair had raped a minor in the village of Niausa in Arunachal Pradesh district of Longding, and has since evaded the police.
According to sources, on 3 February night Wangsa held the minor hostage and repeatedly raped her.
The Longding police told that the two suspects are relatives of the five individuals who arrested people.
Taiwang Wangham, Jingkhaw Wangcha, Phegam Wangsa, Chapha Wangpan and Wanglam Wangsu have been named as the five individuals.
They have been arrested under Section 365/354B/376 (2) (i)/212/195 A IPC, r/w Section 6 of the POCSO Act.
They have been sent to judicial custody the police conducted the medical formalities of the persons.
