Meghalaya Governor Tathagata Roy inaugurated the 11th edition of the East Himalayan Trade Fair (EHTF) 2019 at SRGT Parking Area, Polo Ground, here on Wednesday. The fair is aimed at providing a platform for publicity and marketing of products/services of MSME units of the northeastern region,
In his brief address, Roy said that this kind of trade fair is crucial for the growth of the Northeast region. He further said that the trade fair is in line with the Act East Policy which recognizes the importance of the Northeast as the gateway to Southeast Asian countries. It may be mentioned that the 11th East Himalayan Trade Fair with the theme “MSME-An Engine for NER Growth” is being organized by the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) in collaboration with Commerce and Industries Department, Government of Meghalaya.
Altogether 77 MSME units from the entire northeastern region displayed their wide range of products – horticulture, household goods, food items including processed food, textiles, handicraft, products of rural artisans, SHGs, SME’s product and services, etc. The East Himalayan Trade Fair which will continue till October 22 is open for the public from 11 am to 7 pm.
