UDP candidate Balajied Kupar Synrem filed his nomination to contest the Shella By-poll which is scheduled to be held on October 21.
Synrem filed his nomination at Sohra on Wednesday. Synrem is the son of former Speaker and UDP leader, Late Dr. Donkupar Roy.

The other coalition partners, BJP and PDF, on the other hand, are more likely to contest the by-poll.
It is to be mentioned that the Election Commission of India had earlier announced the dates for the by-election to the Shella Assembly Constituency. It will be held on October 21 while counting will be done on October 24.
