NCP legislator, Saleng A Sangma today completely lost his cool on the second day of the Autumn Session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly due to a technical snag in the sound system.
Saleng raised his voice after Deputy Speaker, Timothy D Shira told KHNAM legislator, Adelbert Nongrum that he cannot allow any supplementary questions on the rise of incidents along the inter-State border since he had already passed on to another question.
On hearing this, the NCP legislator stood up and told the Deputy Speaker that the KHNAM legislator wanted to put forth a supplementary question but his voice could not he heard due to the problem in the sound system.
Saleng said that it is very annoying to see people (Assembly employees) for not doing their jobs properly adding that this is a major insult to this August house.
However, Congress legislator, Charles Pyngrope said that it is not a normal thing for the legislators to get agitated.
“During my time as the Speaker, I had faced this kind of situation,” Pyngrope said.
He took a strong exception to the use of “un-parliamentary” words by Saleng and urged the Deputy Speaker to expunge the remarks from the proceedings of the House.
