The disqualified BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar was sentenced by a Delhi court today to life imprisonment for raping a woman in Unnao in 2017. District Judge Dharmesh Sharma also levied a fine of Rs 25 lakh in the case, who had reserved the decision on the quantity of sentence in the forenoon.
Sengar, a four-time BJP MLA from Uttar Pradesh's Bangarmau, was convicted by the court on Monday for raping a girl at his Unnao residence where she had gone looking for a job.
Sengar, a four-time BJP MLA from Bangarmau's Uttar Pradesh, had raped the girl at her Unnao residence in June 2017, where she went looking for a job. Last year, he was detained and is currently being held in Tihar jail.
While convicting Sengar in the case, the court had yesterday observed in the order that, “the CBI was able to prove the guilt of Kuldeep Singh Sengar beyond a reasonable doubt.”
