According to the recommendations by Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Namchik Namphuk coal mine in Arunachal Pradesh is under further analysis as it is in high conservation value zone. Therefore, the offer for allocation of this coal mine is dependent on the outcome of further analysis, Union Minister of Coal and Mines, Prahlad Joshi said in the Lok Sabha.

In reply to a question, the Minister said Namchik Namphuk coal mine is one of the 204 coal mines which were cancelled by the Supreme Court of India in 2014. Allocation of these 204 coal mines is now being done under the provisions of Coal Mines (Special Provisions) Act, 2015 and the Rules made thereunder. Complaints regarding illegal mining of coal are received through Coal Mine Surveillance and Management System (CMSMS), which is a web-based portal along with ‘’Khanan Prahari’’ mobile app for detection, monitoring and recording of action taken on illegal coal mining.
