A meeting was held on Saturday under the chairmanship of West Siang Deputy Commissioner at his office in connection with the celebration of the Yomgo River Festival.
The DC said the festival venue must be determined first as the construction of a log and Bamboo Bridge over Yomgo River not only involves cost involvement, but also poses a security threat to accommodate thousands of people who come and go to the venue.
The annual event should be able to showcase rich values of culture, traditions, art and handicrafts from a tourism viewpoint, and events should be handled by professional event planners to make it better year after year, an official Saturday news release here. For each event, different committees should be set up, and a core committee should oversee all appointed committees for a positive celebration, said the DC, requesting full participation from officers and the public.
District Tourism Officer TK Kopak explained the broad aim behind the meeting and said such a large festival requires participation of all strata of people to make it a district calendar event.
The head of offices attending the meeting also provided useful suggestions on venue, date, mode of celebration, event tendering and appointment of event manager, law and order issue, social media mobilization, etc., added the communiqué.
